Designer, Dad, Nerd

Hi! I’m Derek, graphic designer by day and nerdy dad and husband by night.

I studied art direction in the advertising program at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia. I entered the work force in 2008, the perfect time to find a job! After a brief stint at the world’s largest retail store and then some coffee shop work I made my way back home to Washington D.C where I started off my graphic design career.

Right now I work for a group of non-profit clients, creating just about everything from event branding and publications to websites and a little mobile app work.

I’ve won a couple of awards but hands down my biggest achievement to date is my daughter Zelda who is, at the time of writing this, refusing to go to bed despite it being 9pm and her only being 2 years old.
